Translations Into Other Languages

By no means is this list exhaustive. Translations have been located by searching the online catalogues of other national libraries, a wondeful launch pad being GABRIEL: The Gateway to Europe's National Libraries, and the Bibliothèque Nationale du Québec. I have also consulted the union catalogue called WorldCat, for all holdings catalogued in OCLC. For Australian editions, I have consulted the National Library of Australia. I am still in a bit of a quandry on where to find Asian languages, such as Japanese, Chinese and even some of the Indian languages. I remain hopeful that I will find one of these lists at some point.

Much information on available translations has been located using online bookstores and has, in fact, at times, been more useful than the various online national libraries. I have searched for cover images wherever possible but have, sadly, not found very many. If I did find any, they have not been of very good quality. Help is also requested here. Much help has of course been given by other fans of Tanith Lee's works. The acknowledgements will, of course, grow over time and all contributors to the translation project will be graciously thanked.

Contributions are requested from fans in any and all languages. I have always read that Tanith Lee's work has been translated into TWENTY languages. And here they are:

Bulgarian,
Czech,
Dutch,
Estonian,
Finnish,
French,
German,
Hebrew,
Hungarian,
Italian,
Japanese,
Korean,
Polish,
Portuguese,
Romanian,
Russian,
Spanish,
Swedish,
Turkish,
Vietnamese.

A brief note about "non-western" scripts:
I have chosen to romanize all "non-western" scripts transliterated to avoid any prickly unicode issues that may arise. I did experiment with some Cyrillic in the html code and I ran into many troubles. So, sadly I must admit, I had to opt for the transliterated scripts.

If you have a translation you know of, please write me: alysoun@cox.net. Many thanks, in advance.

Following the convention of this bibliography, all monographs and separate works have been transcribed in capital letters and all contributions to books and periodicals are in lower case. Following Jim's convention, all non English titles file by their articles, not by the first proper word of the title.

Tanith Lee translations into Bulgarian:
I was contacted once by email and someone who was Bugarian or Russian informed me that there was a Bulgarian translation of
Volkhavaar but when i wrote back they never returned my email. If it's out there, it's semi-uncomfirmed. If it's ever found I will add it.
